Library Cottage News

April and May 2018

Wendy Wilkins

We were very fortunate to have two outstanding authors visit our campus in April. Tennessee author and educator, Michael Shoulders, entertained us while sharing his knowledge on the writing and publishing process. Students previously read, studied and enjoyed his nonfiction works on Tennessee titled, V is for Volunteer and Counting on Us.  They were also excited to hear about his new and first historical fiction chapter book about the American Civil War titled, Crossing the Deadline.
Our wonderful Scholastic Book Fair representative Javonne Smith made it possible for our students to meet and hear Schneider Family Award author and Rhode Island native Kimberly Newton Fusco. Her historical fiction Beholding Bee and Chasing Augustus are great novels to kick off summer reading!
We greatly appreciate Mitzi Ruth, Kit Parker, Cindy Howalt, Tiffany Holland and many other volunteers for making our Spring Book Fair a record breaking success! Many thanks to our language arts teachers for making summer reading suggestions. Students were super excited about the selections and getting a jump start on summer reading!
