Niveles 1 y 2
In abril, we listened to a movie talk about the cortometraje (animated short movie) “Lambs” all in Spanish.  We started learning songs and lines for our Opera, Mañana Iguana.  We did stations of color activities to practice our colors to get ready to earn our stickers for the sticker charts.  We did a Spanish show and share for which we brought in items from Spanish-speaking countries or that had some connection to Spanish and shared them in class.
In mayo, we performed our ELC Opera, Mañana Iguana using a lot of “Spaniglish” (Spanish sprinkled into English).  In addition, we will finish earning our Spanish stickers for the sticker chart.  To earn this sticker, students have to be able to identify all of their colors in Spanish.  We will finish the year with more comprehensible input activities such as story listening with illustrations by Sra. Bertani, movie talks, and some fun games.  To help your child keep their Spanish fresh over the summer, they can try changing the language of their electronic devices to Spanish or try the app, Duolingo.  ¡Que tengan un buen verano! (Have a great summer!)

Niveles 3 y 4
In abril, we completed a “listen and draw” of a story Sra. Bertani had told us before.  She told us in Spanish what to draw and we drew it on our papers, then we did a re-tell of the story in our own words in Spanish!  We did “story listening” of The Boy and the Thorns.  We learned how to play Unicornios Malos (Bad Unicorns), a game of strategy played all in Spanish.  We created characters from “invisible” objects that we discussed in Spanish as a class.
In mayo, we will continue doing all kinds of comprehensible input activities like “movie talks,” “story listening,” “listen and draw,” and more fun games.  To help your child keep their Spanish fresh over the summer, they can try changing the language of their electronic devices to Spanish or try the app, Duolingo.  ¡Que tengan un buen verano! (Have a great summer!)

Nivel 5
In abril, we continued our Persona Especial interviews and quizzes, but to make sure we get to everyone, we had to start interviewing 3 students at a time.  We learned a fun comprehensible input game called Unicornios Malos (Bad Unicorns) that requires some strategic thinking and is all in Spanish.
In mayo, we will receive ambassador butterflies from other schools around North America as a culmination to our Journey South project with the Monarch Butterflies!  We will also continue doing fun comprehensible input activities such as story listening, listen and draw, movie talks, and Special Person interviews and quizzes.  To help your child keep their Spanish fresh over the summer, they can try changing the language of their electronic devices to Spanish or try the app, Duolingo.  ¡Que tengan un buen verano! (Have a great summer!)

Bertani told us in Spanish parts of a story to illustrate on our papers, then we re-told the story in our own words in Spanish!  We also began sustained silent reading in Spanish!
In mayo, we will continue to do more fun comprehensible input activities like story listening, listen and draw, movie talks, and silent sustained reading in Spanish.
