April and May 2018

Early Learning Center
In April, we had fun learning the Mexican Hat dance to La Raspa and were excited to see some Level 2’s perform it in the opera. Level 1’s and 2’s have enjoyed practicing all of the dances for the opera and did a wonderful job during the performance. We also enjoyed a wonderful field day.
In May, we will use the parachute, which include our favorite activities: mountain, tent, present, mushroom, and popcorn. We will also have fun doing obstacle courses, wind wands, hula hoops, and whiffle ball. We also enjoyed a wonderful field day.
In April, we worked very hard on our President’s Physical Fitness tests. Everyone did a great job and tried his/her best. The tests are curl-ups/sit-ups, pull-ups, push-ups, trunk lift, pacer run, and sit & reach.
In May, we will do many fun activities. We hope to be outside as much as possible. Activities will include bowling for dollars, obstacle course, wind wands, softball throw, and whiffle ball. We also enjoyed a wonderful field day.
In April we applied our teamwork and communication skills to playing volleyball. It is a game that requires everyone to be in position and ready when the ball comes. In class we find the balance between gaining needed skills and making sure everyone gets a chance to improve his/her game. We worked on leadership and problem solving, which was fun to watch.
Our continued effort will soon be rewarded as May is time for the President’s Fitness Challenge! Their growth throughout the year has been easy to see and these tests let the kids see that their effort pays off. The tests are curl-ups/sit-ups, pull-ups, push-ups, trunk lift, pacer run, and sit & reach. I have not mastered them all myself, but we all will try and hopefully enjoy the process.
