Extended School Program

After School Classes and Childcare

The St. Nicholas extended school program or ESP continues the St. Nicholas philosophy beyond the regular class day.  ESP begins after 3pm each day.   

ESP provides students a recreational setting where classmates build friendships in a wholesome and relaxing environment. Time in ESP gives children a chance to unwind, play with friends, complete homework assignments, and interact with adults who can be tutors or mentors.

After school sports programs are offered to all students. For Middle and Upper Primary students, these include Cross Country in the fall and Lacrosse in the spring. The Spirit Squad is offered to students in Levels 5 through 7. Soccer Shots is available to PK3 through Level 4 as an after school enrichment class. 

Enrichment programs are offered on a semester basis.  When school begins in the fall, a variety of after school classes are offered to students, and are geared to specific age levels. These include arts and crafts, music lessons (individual and group), science, math, and technology, etc., and Coin Club. The Winter/Spring semester classes begin after the Christmas holiday break.

Through a program of enrichment and support, the St. Nicholas extended school program strives to provide children with a positive and nurturing environment. The emphasis is to foster the development of positive relationships among young people, as well as between young people and adults. We offer youth an opportunity to use their out-of-school time safely and productively. Staff is available to assist students with their academic assignments as needed.  After school programs help to improve sports performance and provide youth with enriching athletic and cultural experiences.
