Chapel During Covid

Chapel 2021-2022

We begin each day with a brief, thoughtful chapel service at 8:25 am.  This time of sharing and reflection is an integral part of school life. Chapel is conducted by the Head of the School, the Chaplain, visiting clergy, and special volunteers from the community as well as staff members and students. After Labor Day, parents are welcome to attend on the days that their child is scheduled to attend in-person chapel (please see schedule below).  Each cottage will attend in-person at least twice a week.  Masks will be required until further notice, and we ask that families sitting in chairs socially distance themselves as much as possible.

For parents with children in multiple cottages, please note that we can only host students who are scheduled for in-person chapel on that particular day.  For example, a parent coming on Monday with a child in Upper Primary will not be able to bring their ELC student along.  We also ask that parents do not plan to attend chapel on days that children are viewing via livestream (any day they are not listed on the schedule is a day that they join from their cottage).  This will help us keep the room at an appropriate capacity, as well as assist in keeping track of where various students are during this period of time.

BIRTHDAY PRAYER IN CHAPEL (DURING COVID)

Student birthdays are still celebrated with the traditional birthday prayer in chapel.  These are offered on a day that the child will be attending in-person chapel, and will be scheduled as close as possible to the actual birthday.  Cottage assistants will reach out to confirm a date with parents, and you will have the choice of attending in-person or viewing via Google Meet on the designated day.   Summer birthdays are also important, and we address those using the following format:  June birthdays will be recognized in April, July birthdays in May, and early August birthdays will be done during the first few weeks of the new school year.   Again, cottage assistants will work with you in scheduling a day that works for you to be able to attend.
